R.I.P. Vic Dunlop 1948 - 2011

Show Host Kurtis's picture

On August 13th, Vic Dunlop - comedian and friend of the Worst Show on the Web - passed away.

Make Me Laugh offered Vic his first TV shot as a solo performer. He then became a regular performer on The Richard Pryor Show. Through that show, Vic was noticed by Universal Studios and scored a role as a series regular on the Barbara Eden sitcom, Harper Valley PTA.

Things really started happening from there. Vic landed movie roles in m Meatballs II, The Devil and Max Devlin, Skatetown USA, co-starring Patrick Swayze, Breakfast of Aliens and Martians Go Home, just to name a few.

While Vic enjoyed his work in film and television and his success as a screenwriter and producer, he continued to tour the country as a top performer in the corporate and comedy club circuit. He also worked in Las Vegas where he had opened for Tom Jones, The Righteous Brothers, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops and The Temptations.

He was also a prolific comedy producer. From television shows to movies to live events, Vic always seemed to be working on something.

I had the pleasure of appearing on stage with Vic just a few times for an improv comedy tour he produced called "Improv Gone Wild." At one particular performance, we showed up at the venue only to find that we were listed as "LA's hottest Latino Improv Troupe." Not only were we not Latino, most of the performers in that show had never actually met one another before performance night. He gave us all Latin sounding surnames and away we went. I will cherish the time I spent with Vic.

He was one of the good guys. Our thoughts are with his family.
