Rant - Strangers in my Backyard

Show Host Jon's picture

So I wake up this morning and there's two strange guys in my backyard with pickaxes taking apart one of my planters. Turns out that my neighbor's house is being sold (news to me) and that they had to repair a fence between our properties. Why this resulted in unchecked aggression towards my planter I'm not sure.

When I called the foreman for the job and asked why people were in my yard without my permission (or even a simple notification) he said "Well we didn't have your phone number." REALLY!? What kind of excuse is that?! My doorbell isn't unlisted, and last I checked even if it were you can use the manual alert system (AKA knock.)

What the hell is going on in the world where people feel they can just barge into a stranger's backyard and start tearing up stuff? When I complained about the planter the foreman said "Well it wasn't cemented together." Ok first off, I think what you meant to say is it's NO LONGER cemented together. Secondly; why does it matter if it's cemented or not? It was a functional planter and now it's neatly stacked rubble.

And don't even get me STARTED on the crap job they did repairing the fence. I hope Kurtis never sees it, he'll probably have an aneurysm. I mean, true, it's no longer listing to one side... for now...

People if you're going to hire someone to work along your property line, have the common sense to at least NOTIFY your neighbor. They're lucky this wasn't on the other side of their house, that guy is a gun enthusiast just looking for an excuse to shoot at someone.
